Project Summary

Our International Middle East client has been asked to provide a subsurface team on a long term assignment to work in Basra, Southern Iraq. Our client will conduct the work in alliance with another entity who will arrange all the logistical and security support in Iraq. The team will provide subsurface expertise and support to the Southern Oil Company in the redevelopment and reservoir management of its fields in Southern Iraq.

The following disciplines would be required, subject to further development and confirmation of the scope of work:

  • Development Geologist (2 vacancies)
  • Geomodelling Geologist (5 vacancies)
  • Petrophysicist (5 vacancies)
  • Geophysicist (3 vacancies)
  • Reservoir Engineer - simulation (5 vacancies) 
  • Petroleum Engineer (3 vacancies)

Areas of Work

The work is at an early stage in the planning process. However the following areas have been identified:

  • Reservoir Definition Studies
  • Full Field Review
  • Data Management
  •  Training

Project Team Disciplines Required

As these are rotational positions (see Contractual Arrangements) (back-to-back staff are required for all positions).

All candidates should have at least 15 years experience in international E&P (Oil & Gas), preferably including the Middle East. Major/International oil company background is preferred. They should be self-motivated, with substantial proven expertise in their discipline, ability to take initiative and work without close supervision within a small multi-discipline team environment. 

Timing & Duration

Planning is at an early stage. Most contracts are likely to be for between 1-2 years and it is envisaged that the assignments will start in Q4 2009.

Contractual Arrangements

Most of the positions are long term and Our Client will offer permanent staff contracts for these. This will include a monthly salary package and all airfare, transport, accommodation and expenses whilst in Iraq. Other shorter term positions will be on a temporary consulting arrangement with remuneration on a day rate basis, plus airfare, travel, accommodation and expenses in Iraq.

All positions will be on a rotational basis, either 14/14 day or 28/28 day depending on the nature of the work.

Logistics and Security

A partner company will arrange and manage all logistics, travel, and personnel security and safety in Iraq.
